The '80s are back, baby!
š Drama at Rugby World Cup | šÆ Wildlife photography | š„« Our grand year end

Hi friend,
We hope youāre doing well on the last Thursday of the summer holiday.
The Avery & Brown team just came back from our biggest People, Planet, Pint event of the year last night; with about 30 people showing up at the Castle Pub!
Weāll be hosting another one in October, so definitely head down if youāre around Farnham.
š Fun fact of the week: Some species of bird can eject their tail feathers. Known as a āfright moultā, it can take place when a bird is feeling threatened, and allows birds such as the diamond dove to escape if caught by a predator.

The return of good old ā80s design
The ā80s are back, baby. Big serif text, punchy headlines, and a narrative to match are the perfect combination when it comes to throwback ā80s editorials. This article by Eye on Design is a great analysis on what makes this style work and why itās been seeing a revival in recent years in many different industries.
Now where should we be going for all our design tool needs? Weāve certainly mentioned our fair share of design resources in the past, but we donāt think thereās any harm in letting you know about more. Toools is something we recently came across, and is a growing archive of 1000+ design resources, updated weekly for the community.
We also want to give a big shoutout to 3 sites, Texturelabs, Wild Textures, and Texture Ninja. These sites are a goldmine for any designer in need of a wide range of free textures to be used in creative projects. Considering these are all free for commercial use, these sites are definitely getting logged in our collection of bookmarks.

Rugby World Cup kick off at Greenpeace
Climate campaigners Greenpeace have drawn the ire of Rugby World Cup Limited (RWCL) after releasing a short protest video where the Stade de France gets filled to the brim with oil, in protest of the eventās TotalEnergies sponsorship. Now RWCL are threatening legal action, but surprisingly not over the messaging. Instead, itās over Greenpeaceās āunlawfulā use of many trademarks and logos used by RWCL, its member unions, and commercial partners that are littered throughout the video.
When it comes to encountering challenges in business, the prize is usually worth the price, but sometimes we might not be the best at facing them in our day-to-day. Considering you add value to your business with each hurdle you get over, hereās how you can start taking the bull by the horns and embrace your challenges head on.
With a rapidly changing business environment caused by advances in technology and widespread economic uncertainty, B2B marketers might be feeling the pressure to stay one step ahead, especially when it comes to upskilling. These are 3 big steps thatāll ensure marketing teams have the skills needed when going up against new challenges and opportunities in an ever changing B2B world.
A great resource that dropped this week is the Creators 4 Climate guide by Earth Alliance. This guide is essential for those creators and influencers out there looking to change the conversation surrounding the climate, and provides all the insights and info you need in the form of bitesize nuggets.

Wildlife photographer of the year 2023
This October will see the Natural History Museum unveil the latest wildlife photographer of the year exhibition in London, showcasing 100 amazing photographs from around the world. With over 49,957 entries coming from 93 countries, hereās a preview of some of the best photographs to be entered.
How come coral reefs can thrive in parts of the ocean that are low in nutrients? Although this question has puzzled scientists for centuries, itās not actually magic, just a little bit of borderline cannibalism. A new study has found that many coral species actually feed on their microscopic algae friends that live inside their own cells, helping them tap into nutrients previously thought to be unavailable to them.
To save you 1,000 hours of research into climate change and sustainability topics, Carlos Terol has but together a āTop 15 Cheat Sheets for Changemakersā resource over on LinkedIn, covering everything from biodiversity to clean energy funding. With climate action, some things are sadly just too inconsequential to really make a difference. Realistically, we have to go for the big guns, and this is a topic Michael Barnard covers in his short list of climate actions that will work.

A grand end to our impact reporting year

Russ and Becky with their Lidl stockpile š„«
With the end of August marking the end of our impact reporting year, we dipped into our impact pot and made one last push to help some worthy causes before the new year begins. On top of Russ and Becky popping over to Lidl to get £150 worth of food for Farnham Food Bank, we also donated £75 to Challengers, and £75 to Phyllis Tuckwell.
Tim and Josh started a new video series covering some big topics in the world of impact reporting. The first two can be found over on our LinkedIn page, so definitely check these out if youāre interested in learning more about impact reports and why theyāre so important.
We added another badge to our sash this month, as August marked our 3rd year of climate action with Ecologi. Weāre looking forward to reaching our 15,000 trees planted mark!
